These cases where someone falsely accuses someone else should be prosecuted fully. In fact, the punishment should be the same punishment the person they are accusing would get if those false accusations had somehow got them convicted.

She lied on an election form. That's an indictable offense, meaning it carries with it a sentence including jail time. I doubt she'll see jail, but she'll get more than just a fine. Probably probation, plus a fine.
Yeah, but that's just another offense she committed on top of making false claims. People these days have far too much power to ruin others with social media and the internet. Laws needs to be updated to reflect that power and increase punishments for false allegations.
Think about it, even 15 years ago if someone wanted to try and ruin you with a made up claim they had to either convince a newspaper or news editor that those claims had merit, and they would clearly protect themselves from slander and do a real look into it all. Now, you just open twitter and click send.
