That's kind of a massive connecting factor to have kept out of the media for the last few days. That part of Ohio is Appalachia so some of the talk even included some kind of Hatfield & McCoys feuding that exploded. Aside from the locals that would have known what was going on everyone else would have been assuming that it was some kind of domestic dispute/family annihilator incident occurring. Now that it looks more like organized crime with someone wiping out rivals at least the worry can probably be set aside that it's some maniac they can't catch who's a danger to the entire community. Crime wars are bad but they generally don't involve anyone outside the business when violence erupts.

Kind of a reversal of common violent crime patterns. The domestic wipe-out in GA was done by a black guy, and these situations are usually perpetrated by white guys. The grow-op wipe-out in OH was done to white people by most likely other white criminals, and gangs trying to exterminate each other wholesale are typically done by black criminals; even the Italians don't wipe out entire crews or gangs, they usually settle for knocking of the boss and his immediate flunkies, not exterminating an entire involved family.

Black behaving like white. White behaving like black. How about that, a major diversity achievement has been unlocked.

No, the answer for most problems would be law & order, and at least one generation of children raised not to be completely feral, but folks from your side of the spectrum seem to have a big issue with applying that to any of your designated groups of perpetual social 'victims'.

Not really. It just isn't helpful to focus on the race of these "feral" people. Doesn't provide any answers. Nor has hardass lawn order proven very effective in changing things. Just make prisons cost so much that even the tightie righties are starting to sing a different tune. The ones capable of change, anyway.

Not really. Being raised right in this world where doing wrong leads to the greatest power and wealth, as well as the massive personal freedom that comes from being conscience-empty, doesn't feel very good at all most of the time.

The movie Winter's Bone has nothing to do with race.

It's about this girl looking after her siblings in the Ozarks. Drugs, crime, and families are woven through the culture of the region.

What's happening in this Ohio story reminded me of that movie.

It's like this...

Seventeen-year-old Ree Dolly (Jennifer Lawrence) looks after her mentally ill mother, her twelve-year-old brother Sonny (Isaiah Stone), and her six-year-old sister Ashlee (Ashlee Thompson). Every day, Ree makes sure her siblings eat, while teaching them basic survival skills like hunting and cooking. The family is destitute. Ree's father, Jessup, has not been home for a long time; his whereabouts are unknown. He is out on bail following an arrest for manufacturing "crank".

Sheriff Baskin (Garret Dillahunt) tells Ree that, if her father does not show up for his court date, they will lose the house because it was put up as part of his bond. Ree sets out to find her father, following his trail into the world where meth use is common, violence is frequent, and people are bound by codes of loyalty and secrecy. She starts with her meth-addicted uncle Teardrop (John Hawkes) and continues on to more distant kin, eventually trying to talk to the local crime boss, Thump Milton (Ronnie Hall). Milton refuses to see her; the only information Ree comes up with are warnings to leave the situation alone and stories that Jessup died in a meth lab fire or skipped town to avoid the trial.

Sorry to say but as I get to know more about this drug-dealing and cock-fighting family the less I care that someone got rid of them. It would not surprise me in the least if it was someone carrying out some perverse form of vigilante justice. I say that because whoever did it DIDN'T kill the babies...most gangland killers these days would especially kill the kids as a 'message' to anyone else.

That they didn't kill the babies says they at least have some moral qualms.
