This sounds retarded. How is that going to save them by cooking up and eating the rest of them? That is probally the most retarded plan I have ever heard.

I'm guessing that they want to create a market for them.
If they create a market, more producers will want to raise them.

Let it go extinct, I really dont know what the fascination is with preserving species. If it doesnt have an important position in the ecosystem let it die off.

Exactly. That's how the planet's supposed to work. But if there IS an economic value, that will INCREASE its likelyhood of survival, not decrease it. Cows are infinitely more abundant in Canada than India. Which country eats beef, Bacardi?

What makes this rare breed of chicken better than the common breed of chicken?

Ah its from Quebec, I should have guessed. It seems even their chickens need preservation...

How important is the human position in the ecosystem?

Extremely I would say, now we are talking about keeping the ecosystem habitable for human life right?

Because if we took that part out what would be the point in having a viable ecosystem?

No, I wasn't. Humans have a tendency to destroy everything in their paths.

I'd like to share a revelation that I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species, and I realised that humans are not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment; but you humans do not. Instead you multiply, and multiply, until every resource is consumed. The only way for you to survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern... a virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer on this planet, you are a plague, and we... are the cure.
I'm reminded of this quote from Agent Smith from The Matrix....sounds about right.

Well if we arent doing this so that humans have a sustainable habitat whats the point?

Humans dont destroy everything, if we did then the earth would be in much worse shape than it is.

Still this doesnt change the fact we do not need a rare breed of chicken in Quebec.

Oh you were talking to me? Um... let me see. Last time I checked cow's were not extinct. They had populations all over the planet because of there high uses in both providing milk which is used in many products and also beef.

When exactly was the last time you ever heard of a animal being killed and eaten to save it's very low population? Hmm? or better yet what happens when nobody wants them? Congrats to the brilliant plan then as not only did it not work but they practicly killed off the species themselves and more quickly.

What normally happens to preserve species is they setup habbitats for them so they can breed. The idea of killing the species and eating them to save them just sound retarted to me.

I guess the feel if they slaughter more they will have more cash to keep this industry going. I think the whole idea of keeping a rare chicken going stupid. You want to preserve this bird so you can preserve your 'French' history give them to a zoo. Im sure you will have people come from all around to see your Rare French Cocks... and hens.
