Maggots eat dead flesh, which means part of his back consisted of dead flesh. Therefore don't blame the maggots as the cause of death. The partner should be committed as anyone who can't/smell that the person who lives with them's flesh is dying on their body isn't fit to be left alone.

I assume you mean 'Fritz'? You mean the creep who kept his sex-slave daughter locked up? And that news came out on the heels of some other Austrian creep who had a sex-slave girl locked up for what, ten years?

If it makes you feel any better, we had Phillip Garrido who kept a girl prisoner for 18 years and had two kids with her.

The odds are, this is not the only such case out there.

Far from being criticized, Austria deserves credit for ferreting out these creeps and saving those two women.

Just had another case of a French woman and man killing their 8 infants as they were born and hiding the bodies around the house. These things seem to happen in clusters, doesn't mean one nation is better or worse, just that while rare, it's more common than we want to belive.

VAncouver had it's own keeping a girl prisoner case in the 70's, but this being Canada the guy only managed to do it for half a year. He's up for parole already, but his victim spoke out against it. I hope they listen to her.

As has already been pointed out by a few people, maggots only eat putrefied flesh, leaving healthy tissue alone. There is more to this story than meets the nose.
