Ya, srsly. We're having a blast, if they're not, sorry, but so what?

I will agree on the Fence. It should not have been there in the first place. I suspect it was due to the Protesters and the threat of shenanigans.

Wow. 8O

I did not expect to see so many media people seeing Vancouver and the Olympics with so much negativity. The Brits and now the Americans. Has every other Olympics run perfectly smooth? I think not.

They're just jealous that they don't live here

Oh whoop de doo. It's an international event, OF COURSE there are going to be nay sayers. Anyone remember China and the ugly kids? Frankly, I think we have done a great job so far. You could make a whole thesis on the bad stories but you would be missing the majority of the games. The people who want to fixate on the bad will do so anyway. It was our security that nabbed the guy with fake ID before he got near Biden, not the Secret Service. There been some technical problems to be sure but the games are still Olympic. Everyone knows the Brit press only tears down everyone anyway, so who gives a toss what they think anyway? As for the comics, so what? A rain forest is warm. Sorry to shatter your idea that we all live in an igloo.

$1:
"It seems like so many of the courses and tracks are giving the athletes hell, and while the challenge is good for sporting competition and all that, there just seem to be a lot of wipeouts. We watched the women's downhill and - holy balls - we ended up making a drinking game out of every time one of them wiped out. But in reality, it was frightening - those poor women came flying down that track, legs bending the wrong way, heads thwacking on frozen ground; it was brutal."

Welcome to the world of Downhill Racing lady. Ask them to show you the zippers on their knees and you'd really be offended. Especially the ones that have had up to 6 knee surgeries.

The fence is there because the whole area is in a security zone as some of the major media have their broadcast sites nearby.

Even the protests have been excellent, except for the losers from the East....

My cold black anti olympic heart broke when an a torch bearer came of the bus and burst into to tears when she saw and heard the crowd. My boyfriend turned to me and said...'This is what it is about...us being Canadian and loving our country'...BASTARD!!!

All the nay sayers should come here and check out the vibe...it is amazing. I have met the Czech team, the Polish figure skaters and all from buying coffee!!! I had my pic taken with all of them because I am Canadian...that is so freaking cool!!!

on a side note...I am super glad they didnt have 'Free Speak Zones'!!!

A couple friends are there for the two weeks and went downtown after the hockey game tonight. He sent me a text saying it was a Zoo and there were many, many languages being spoken. I asked if "being drunk" passed a language.......never heard back.

I'm beginning to wonder though...maybe a lot of these stories about Olympic bashing from other countries, isn't more about out own journalists looking for a story.

Stop and think a moment. Stephen Colbert is jibing us, and that's a story? That's something we should feel guilty about? Why? How is that significant? I saw Colbert doing a serious interview - not his show - and he was liking the Olympics.

And here's another one...

NBC is killing in the ratings with the Olympics broadcast

If these Olympics are so horrible, how come everybody wants to watch them?

I'm starting to wonder if maybe the foreigners who don't like the Olympics, really aren't just a small group of journalists in Ontario.

Ya, I know, but it should have been accessible to the Public by design.

Exactly!

The media needs a story and this is all they can come up with. Tabloid reporting at it's best.
