When you lump it in with your computer, your laptop, your smartphone, your TV, your tablet and your smart appliances you don't have much of a chance to stop this shit from happening short of going completely off the grid.

At best you might be able to mitigate the big brother syndrome but you'll never fully escape it's clutches. And, people wonder why some of us long for the good old days when you didn't have to worry about your fridge ratting you out to some hacker or advertising agency.

Because people are drawn like flies to shit by bright colours, fancy gadgets, and things that make amusing beeping noises. Oldest sales gimmick in the colouring book.

Reading about the upcoming CES and they complained about Internet of everything, even sex toys.
Imagine the dildo that reports how often, how long, what speed setting to Homeland Security.

Your car already is responsible for your data leak. Read the fine print in your owner's manual.

In The Anarcky, auto insurance companies do not need policy enforcement officers to verify anything.

Why are people giving their cars this information? Why does your cell phone know your credit card number? Why do people enter their email address whenever they are presented with the question? Why does your smart thermostat and smart TV have a microphone in it? Does anyone read the terms of service?

It's because convenience. And companies have zero incentive to protect your personal data while earning money from mining that data.

Protip: Don't give them your data, and they can't leak it.

Be like the car dealer who needed a "certified cheque". Didn't do e-transfers, escrow, com, PayPal. Made me do a 400 mile round trip the next Tuesday when the Credit Union opened. Had to take a bank transfer because certified cheques were bullshit in 2014.
And the rental agency that had to have a year of predated cheques the same year. Had to go with my kid, set her up with cheques, explain how cavemen did financing. Left a card with the agency told them I could update their system to 1990s tech for a fair price.
And deal every day with people who have no cash and "don't do" online banking because it's dangerous, try to hand me a fucking cheque.
If you simply refuse to learn anything new, the world IS a dangerous place. Like the Dr says:Don't give them your data, and they can't misuse it.

I know a former state sponsored blue team guy, he always says, "I don't want the security guy who says "don't use xyz". I want the security guy who says "Yeah, xyz have these problems. This is how you can use it securely"
