Wow, anyone read what is included in this cyber bullying bill? Stealing of cable signals? This has really eroded my trust in this party.

You trusted them at some point? I guess you have been paying attention.

Well, yes I did and I do for the most part. I figured that after the 2008 economic problems that this would be the focus, and in fact Harper had said it many times that "it is all about the economy", this foray into the "Tough on Crime" agenda, does not help the economy, in fact it accomplishes the opposite and it has been proven to be a failing approach. Most recently none other than the State of Texas warned Canada about the immense costs of going down a particular road on crime. We seem to have not heeded the warning even as we can learn from some of the mistakes made in other countries.

All of these social issues quite frankly are probably best dealt with by other parties, they should stick to what is most important and what they are probably best at, the economy.

The problem is twofold; there is no problem with crime - violent crime for example is at record lows, and this bill has little to do with crime and quite a bit to do with restricting citizens rights to ensure corporate profits.

I liked your 'stealing cable signal' bit though. ;) Cable around here is digital and encrypted - so it's pretty much impossible to steal. Technological solutions not requiring any lawmakers or changes to people's rights involved.

My trust in that party ended when Ceasar Peter McKay pulled a reverse Brutus on David Orchard.

It's not that I have anything against them going after people who steal signals, but this should not be rolled up into a cyber bullying bill...

Omnibus is the only bus in Ottawa. That way if you are against the whittling down of your rights, they can say 'are you in favour of Rehteah Parsons' suicide?'.

This is so sad that we still don't have processes in place to ban the idea of omnibus bills. It's ridiculous that parties hide stupid or bad policies under otherwise good or honest laws.

It's an insult to democracy that you won't allow your ideas to stand on their own merits before a vote and instead try and slip them in under the table. part of the reason I hate the party system.
