Well, it's exactly what he said he'd do, so I give him credit for that at least.

So they want to replace the carbon tax with a carbon tax.

raydan raydan: So they want to replace the carbon tax with a carbon tax. They want to tax large tax emitters (the voters) less than the industrial emitters hoping that it will do something something.

The funniest part is, as everyone from NDPers to centrists to Conservatives have pointed out, is that O'Toole wants the money to go into a fund managed by a private consortium and be used only for specific "green" purchases.
Under the Liberal carbon tax, we as consumers get money back and can spend it however we please. Under O'Toole's plan, the money is managed by a bureaucracy that restricts how we can spend it.
In other words, exactly the opposite of where you'd expect the parties to be.
This idea has "own goal" written all over it.

I suppose even a shitty carbon tax plan is better than no carbon tax plan.

Conservatism in Canada is dying. It was killed by Harper, Scheer, Kenney, Ford and now O'Toole.
They've become unable to govern.

Climate, Covid, lock downs, unemployment, highest lumber prices ever but mills are shut down.... and our Cornservative MP sends out a flyer concerned about 'crime'.... that's what O'Toole gets to deal with. A caucus that's never noticed the calendar advances every Jan. 1

O'Toole just ensured he will never get elected. If an election is held now, he just handed a majority to Trudeau. Canadians who want to get rid of the tax now have no alternative. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.

Uwish, you are a voice in an ocean of 38,000,000. The Budget doesn't benefit me, they never do. I'm a single, white male.
People care more for the environment and for social programs, People are opposed to big business for the most part. The Conservatives are pro-business and opposed to curbing climate change and providing Social programs.
O'Toole's "climate plan" demonstrates this. Kenney killed the High-Tech tax credit the dippers created in Alberta and Ford has nuked Ontario.
People are sick of Austerity.
Canada has changed, for better or for worse. The Conservatives have not.

sure, the only thing that has changed is the loss of reason and lack of accountability.

The least Accountable Governments in Canada are Conservative.
Kenney and Ford don't give two shits about the people.
