The UN is made up of member nations. Over the last number of years the US, which is one important member, has been pushing the envelope on International Law instead of working within the law. This sets a huge and troublesome president among other member nations and quite frankly I for one am glad that at least one man, not unlike many of you, except he's considered an expert, is keeping his eye on the situation. What he may think of Arab gays and women is of little consequence to the above story and....for target practise.....are you as psychopathic as you come across or just plain pathetically moronic?

The problem is Wada, who chooses what is of consequence? I get that you dig what the CBC looks at as a story of interest.

Or should we be more concerned about the US killing bad guys?

It's notable that the CBC routinely chooses stories that portray the US or Israel et al in a negative light but it doesn't shine that investigative light on the treatment of minority groups/women/gays in despotic nations within the UN.

But of course it's just moronic for us to doubt the purveyors of information within the tax-funded CBC.

It would appear that all subjects of the media are equal, but some subjects are more equal than others.

In this case Al Qaeda bad guys deserve more press and sympathy than the women being mutilated daily in the Sudan or how gays are beaten and killed in the Gaza Strip just for being gay.

The drones are doing very well in killing terrorists, they can follow them from the air and when the time is right they can send them to their 72 virgins.

Israel is buying and building their own versions.

The United Nations, which for the most part has the moral authority of a whore house, doesn't like them possibly because the terrorist are their own people.

I think the use should be expanded to be used against pirate ships and their mother ships. It might not stop them, but it will make piracy a bit more dangerous. If the UN objects

I am sincere about these issues Wada. I just wish more attention was paid to the plight of women, girls, gays and minority groups in the Arab world and Africa. It's a criminal offence in most African countries for people of the same gender to have intimate relationships.

In most of the Arab world, women are treated as chattel. I don't see the same enthusiasm on discussing these issues in the mainstream media as I see when Israel or the US are being criticised for one thing or another. It’s this I find very hypocritical.

Every country is hypocritical in its own way.

We ignored toxic ships dumping waste in the coast of Somalia, we ignore the French Legion's actions in Central Africa, we've ignored the CIA's involvement in Latin America and Iran (contra scandal etc), we've ignored the poisoning of Colombian farmer's crops, so what's so surprising about us westerners turning a blind eye now.

The League of Nations fell apart mainly due to Europe's imperial ambitions and its shameless resource grabs. Perhaps the UN will fall apart due to the same reason.
