And here's another one.

Students told to list the benefits of Islam

"A father and military veteran says he has been banned from a school because he got into an argument with faculty over his child's homework assignment.

Kevin Wood received his no trespassing order on Tuesday. This all stems from a run-in between Wood and the vice principal at his daughter's school.

He says he challenged a history class assignment that had students list the benefits of Islam."

There are times I believe we should be looking at Islam coming to the North American shores in the same way we look at Ebola.

The Father has over reacted. His kid is taking a History class that covers a number of different Religions as part of it, including Christianity.

I have to wonder though, is it true that they aren't allowed to discuss the 10 commandments? That sounds a little far fetched, but if it is the case I can see a Christian getting upset about their kids being taught about one faith and made to completely ignore their own. Particularly if the school is doing it in the guise of world history. Christianity can't be ignored in a world history setting.

American Christians do have a tendency to overstate things when it comes to their religion being "oppressed" though.

AS for the first story. That letter is ridiculous. Being labelled "racist" on their permanent record? Just a little heavy handed imo, but seems to be par for the course in britain these days.

So the only religious artifacts they kids will look at are Islamic ones? That does seem racist. Or is it just possible this is a religous survey course looking at artifacts of many religions?

Would you really take time to read the damn stories..........................

La Plata High School

Maryland

USA

This isn't the UK; in the UK he would have been arrested already,
like the 2 fathers in Rotherham who went to the house where their daughters
were being raped.

That's the UK, but it will be in Canada soon enough.

The first story does indeed refer to the UK.

$1:
“This particular unit is on the formation of the Middle Eastern empires, and the students learn the basic concepts of Islam along with politics and culture,” she said. “When kids study the Renaissance and Reformation, they study concepts of Christianity. When they learn how China and India developed, they learn about Hinduism and Buddhism.”

What they're not allowed to do is bring Christianity into the school outside of this course. As so often happens, some Christians want as spatial deal. Happy to pray in class, post the 10 commandments, but bring in other religions and OMG, Satan has arisen. Nobody is doing what you suggest in your first paragraph - that's just FD type histrionics. If people don't want Islam promulgated by officialdom, they're going to have to accept that their pet religion, Christianity is also out. (This will now earn me an attack by PA9 about how I'm always slagging Christianity.)

Andy, Andy, Andy...why do you do this silly thing?

You were being left alone to go off on your fantasy tangents. Then you call me to the thread. Why would you do such a stupid thing? You have to know by now I'm going to prove you wrong if you make me come here. Why would you want that? I don't know - cause idiots do the idiotic, I guess.

Whatever...here's what you're suggesting is false.

So he's saying if Muslims want to teach their religion in school you can't razz Christians for wanting their basic tenets mentioned.

You say "nobody" is doing that? Really? They aren't teaching Islamic religious tenets?

Do you know what the five pillars of Islam are?

Here's the first one.

"Shahadah: declaring there is no god except God, and Muhammad is God's Messenger"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Pillars_of_Islam

Now go to the second story and click around until you see the question and answers from the paper the little girl got. You'll see they are indeed teaching Islamic religious thought. It's not histrionics. It's a fact.

Brought to you presumably by the same sort of school administrators that will suspend a six-year-old boy if at lunch he points a chicken bone at one of his friends and yells "bang!". I miss the old days. Most of my teachers and principals were a bunch of knobs but none of them seem to be this deliberately stupid.

The angry Marine dad story sounds a bit different though. It's a FOX thing, with the reek of some deliberate Todd Starnes-esque sort of professional disinformation all over it. I'd like some confirmation on it from another non-FOX source (and not from some damn TeaBircher blogger either) because on the surface it looks more like a couple of troublemaking reactionary nimrods attacking a legit history class than it is about any teacher malfeasance.

Just google it. As what I quoted says, it's part of a history course, Christianity is covered when they get to the Reformation, Hinduism etc is also covered. Nobody's being taught religion in the dogma sense, despite what FD is raving on about.

Same with the first instance - they're going to a museum. Is that really a museum just for Islam, or are all artifacts from many religions presented? Probably the latter, which makes this just another Daily Mail, BNP, FD, hysteria shriek.

Raving? Is that what the lunatic fringe is calling quoting now?

Unsound says what converts into, if they teach the five pillars of Islam what's wrong with Christians wanting the ten commandments mentioned.

You said they don't. I showed you that they do.

You were proven wrong. That's the fact of it. Is that why you hate facts so much?
