That explains the yellow Camaro seen in the area.

They dont screw around, when ours went down there was a herc circling overhead in no time and it was pure whiteout conditions below. They gave us the coord's to find the downed bird and we used gps and a bombi to get right to the exact spot.

I wonder if that was our chopper finally making it's way back to Montreal?

Yeah…..I don’t think any military aircraft even have ELTs.

It wasn't specified that it was military or not. This actually happened Wednesday afternoon. My neighbors and I watched and of course 'speculated' about what 'they' could be doing. It was obvious that a search was on for something. Flying very low. One chopper in particular seemed to be circling around our village a lot. It didn't have any military markings. Navy blue in color. I'm not an expert on whirlybirds, but I have flown in a few. This appeared to be a Bell Ranger or similar. Eventually, as stated in the article, the 'chopper in distress' was found strapped onto a parked lowboy in the Wainright area.

You are correct!

In the t.v. and local radio news it wasn't specified. Not that it would come as a shock if it was military as it was 'located' in the 'Wainright area'.

sprCForr: Where were you Wednesday afternoon??? Do you have witnesses???

Global news last night also implied it was a CF chopper.

Not sure but I imagine they do, as I know for a fact all our ships have them.

Not real unusual for false alarms with ELTs though. Turns out there was a leak in the electronic shield in dockyard. How did they find out? Testing a ship board ELT for proper operation and then having the building being slowly circled by one of our P3s out of Greenwood ;)

I think every aircraft has an ELT.

Actually I'm pretty sure of it.

I am thinking that it is an international reg, but of course military aircraft and ships do not actually have to abide by those regs. We tend to anyway but we do not actually have to.
