I guess the NDP never thought Albertans would be pissed off enough with the Carbon Tax that they would donate their rebate cheques to the Wildrose.

Well surprise.

Keep them cheques rolling out Rachel.

Given the size of Canada's forests, it is inconceivable Canadians should put up with more taxation under the guise of "fighting climate change".

If we were to hang our hats on that, reallyshould stop cutting those trees down. How about a punitive stumpage fee? Keep the Yanks off our backs too.

No need to stop cutting, just need to ensure replanting is taking place. Trees are after all, a renewable resource.

$1:
The net contribution of any forest to the global atmospheric GHG balance is a relatively small difference between several large fluxes: uptake of CO2 by photosynthesis (gross primary production), release of CO2 by autotrophic and heterotrophic respiration, release of CO2, CH4, and N2O by disturbance, and transfer of carbon to the forest products sector, treated as an emission under the current accounting rules of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (11).

While I agree there are mitigating factors such as wide spread forest fires in bad years, I believe over all, our forests provide a net c02 sink for Canadians.

Good luck finding definitive proof of that. Read the literature, and it's either this or either that. That's the problem with this whole discussion - it's about what people believe.

$1:
He came from somewhere back in her long ago
The sentimental fool don't see
Trying hard to recreate
What had yet to be created once in her life
She musters a smile
For his nostalgic tale
Never coming near what he wanted to say
Only to realize
It never really was
She had a place in his life
He never made her think twice
As he rises to her apology
Anybody else would surely know
He's watching her go
But what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing
There's nothing at all
But what a fool believes he sees

Trees don't consume C02 during photosynthesis?

Good luck finding proof man made c02 is to blame for "climate change". The miles of glaciers that once covered my province MELTED, with no assistance from mankind. Feel free to pay your c02 taxes dutifully. For myself I will throw another log on the fire and laugh.

And they store that carbon in the wood - which is then counted as a carbon source when harvested. What happens to that wood when it's in the environment? It lasts forever?
