I see the CF is adapting to their lack of helicopters quite admirably! I'm looking forward to the day when they revive the cavalry to replace the armored corps.

We've already ordered the muskets to re-equip the troops.

Thick-walled canoes are Canada's first line of defence in the Arctic too!

Instead of using UAV's, we've equipped squadrons of Canada Geese with cameras. ;)

As much as this will be the funniest thread in the next month or so, I think this is rather simple, and cost effective solution...

That being said...can we used mutated beavers to chomp through ships? Who needs submarines!

Do the artillery still have the pac howitzer? I remember they could be broke down and carried by mule.

I don't think 105mm would be a good idea to have by pack mule but 5cm might do the trick.

We can spend a couple hundred buck on a donkey, expect our troops to be combat effective while wearing 180lbs in gear or spend millions to play catch up with Boston Dynamic's Big Dog project and still not have something in this decade.

(except for tha damned noise, it looks like a really bad haloween costume)
The cheapest solution is the donkey and if worst comes to worst, we can eat them.

And here is the first troop of the Canada Donkey Corps:

Here is their first mess:

and the latest tools being ordered by Canadian Forces to fix it:

There has been some vigorous debate on what model of pitchfork to purchase, but the American model was chosen, as it has had more experience in actual combat!

I couldn't find anything on developement costs but if darpa's involved, you can imagine it's deep pockets all the way.

It's funny, the poor infantry man has always had to carry too much.
If I remember my training.. the tent was carried by a mule and that slept one contubernium and there were some 10 contubernium in a century. Still, that left you with far more than you could fight with.
Some bright sparkys have been suggesting mountain bikes or some kind of wheel barrow affair just to pack all that stuff.
