What's that saying about world giving you lemons make lemonaid? The cards were stacked against Canada this time around. Not being a team player on Kyoto pretty much made us a lame duck anyway. I was amazed Harper even bother to show up. Should have stayed at timmies.

Harper only has himself to blame for this. It probably won't make much of a difference in the next general election though.

I admire Harper for his stance. He takes Canada's integrity very serious.

When you say something but DO nothing, that's not a stance. It's lip service. And countries don't have integrity. People do. Harper isn't one of those people.

Yep he sure is to "blame". Imagine backing the only democracy in the Mid-East, what nerve. And then to cut back on funding to corrupt despotic leaders?? How dare he! Who does Harper think he is denying foreign despots Canadian funds so they can continue their murderous/genocidal ways?
Considering who didn't vote for us, I'd consider this not as a loss of a seat but an ethical and moral victory for many of our foreign policies.

If Harper stuck to his principles, he never would have attempted a seat on the Security Council.

But bribing people with maple syrup and beer is one of our principles? Lame.

I see no point or pride in belonging to the UN at all. The bigger question is now why the government even thought it was so vital that we got a Security COuncil seat.

Exactly, the Liberals were famous for lip service. Harper has done an awesome job.

An awesome job of what? Name one successful thing he's done since coming into office. I'll give you one: cutting the GST. Name another.

So bad that as a minority government he has far outlasted any other. 8)
