The PM-Elect is already making a stand; he's just not standing with those who actively oppose fascism.

The Russians do have a long and proud history of fighting fascism, but now I'm worried they're just worried about competition from ISIS.

I trust Canada more than Russia when it comes to dropping bombs, but that's just me.

Russia it seems has been doing Assad's dirty work by bombing Syrian rebel positions and calling them 'ISIS' targets.

As well, the last I read we had done a total of 4 bombing missions. I don't think we are going to be missed much. :(

Our contribution is negligible and I don't want to see one of our pilots get captured by ISIS when an antiquated Cf18 airframe dissolves underneath when he's over a combat area. Let the Americans and Russians bomb away all they want.

Many of the rebel organizations are peripheral to ISIS and are still valid military targets.

Besides, Russia is the only country operating inside of Syria with the permission of the legitimate Syrian government. The US, Canada, and everyone else needs to clear the field and let the Russians back up their ally.

Bottom line to me is that Syria is no more our business than Poland is Russia's business.

True, decimate the various groups, rebels, then all that is left is ISIL.
When the Saudi's are chatting with Putin, the deal is done.
Saudi's should have, along with Turkey taken Assad out a few years back.
Not a long trip across Jordan for the Saudi's

Canada's presence is largely symbolic. As such, it's important.

Not that important, especially if our ancient planes have a malfunction and a pilot gets killed. Or, even worse, captured then brutally murdered on video. Ramp up the logistics and aid contributions but the combat role isn't necessary

Auto GCAS has worked pretty well on the F-16; I'm not sure if anyone has put it on the F-18 however.

I wouldn't have the same apprehension if we had better planes. And the ground crews do a brilliant job of keeping them flying. In the absence of newer and better fighters though to me it's not worth the risk. Hell, buy a dozen Frogfoots from the Rooskies, train our guys to become low level attack experts, and I'd feel much more confident about a more active combat contribution.

I think the Ruskies will sell you the Frogfoot, but only if Justin can beat Vladimir in the ring.

The way he beat the wheels off of loudmouth Brazeau I wouldn't be surprised if he could beat Vladimir too. And then shove Donald Trump's head in a toilet too for good measure.
