Saw this story and I hope the gov/DND position is an accurate one or else lots of bureaucrats ought to be lining up for complimentary Sea King rides.

Agreed. I trust China, their intentions, and their political aspirations for the Pacific about as far as I can throw the old massive portrait of Mao...

Counterfeit parts in the procurement process...? This needs to be quashed, NOW.

That fathead has no concept about weapons systems, avionics and the consequences of those systems failing. Send his ass down to the hangar and let him say that to the aircrews faces out back.

He'd spend the rest of the day getting the wedgie out of his ass. Although I'm sure it wouldn't be his first time.

$1:
Her department issued a written statement saying the standard federal purchase agreement stipulates suppliers can't sell the government counterfeit goods.
Oh yeah, that works real good when the suppliers don't know they're getting garbage.

$1:
"At this point in time, other than continuing to be vigilant, we don't have any particular concerns in this country," Fantino tells CBC News.

Apparently "we" does not include those actually IN the military.

When are we gonna smarten up and realize that just because someone is willing to trade with you, doesn't mean they won't try and fuck you over. Especially when both sides give the occasional "stink eye" to each other.
I think what is happening right now is a pretty solid argument for making sure ANYTHING that is going to be used by the military is either produced by a friendly nation or preferrably, domestically.

Fake parts my ass. It's not about buying knockoffs it's about accountability or the lack there of. So the first question should be WTF isn't the Government going after the contractors who supply the parts or the illiterate morons in NDHQ procurements who can't read the label of the materials they've bought.

My guess would be that when you open up a case of avionics parts and they're all stamped "made in China" you'd be more than a little suspect about their origin.

But hey, I can here it now. Sir, we saved a shitload of money by buying all these parts at that Richmond flea market. [B-o]

Of course they wouldn't. Look how well they do with pet food, drywall, baby formula and anything with red paint on it.
