In my day we had to push the bus every day, beause it didn't have an engine. Some smart alec asked why we didn't just leave the bus at home, but he got the strap for that.

Fuck, I used to have t push the bus all the time. The company wouldn't pay for snow tires, and the first time we over got stuck, we were stuck for 3 hours waiting for assistance. If it meant getting home faster none of us really cared about having to push. :)

Meh, was probably a bad idea in hindsight. In today's litigious society the bus company would've been opening themselves up to a avalanche of lawsuits if something happened.

$1:
push it up a hill during a snowstorm

There's your answer right there. Safety issue. Imagine if those kids got half-way up and then tuckered out while breathing in all that exhaust and the bus rolled back down over them. Or if they got frost bite while the driver is warm and toasty behind the wheel.

I don't see the problems in it, a man had a problem and he asked the nearest people who were there to help him. " Student's safety. Student safety is our utmost priority." Oh, :D the terrible thing could happen: one of them could fall on ground and as being a home sitting kid who wasn't picking up anything heavier than a computer mouse he felt on ground and without having enought power to rise, he died... )) And if tomorrow will be war? To learn Ak-47 will be tragedy, I'm not saying about other weapons. Sport is the key to life, in my school time we haven't a bus, everyone was walking on his own from different parts of city, in the institute I'm walking 40 minutes to it in any weather. So we would be happy to have a school bus and push it from time to time.

Well, it's not like the lazy little buggers would have actually pushed anyway. It would have been too difficult for them to figure out how to push and text at the same time. Oh well, I guess that driver will just leave them on the side of the road next time to freeze waiting for assistance instead.

The driver was screwed no matter what he did, or didn't do with the kids.

Should have tossed them one by one under the wheels till he got enough traction to drive out.
