Think they missed the boat on this one. Britain has been in severe decline from 1945 onward and was in the shit even before that.

They still haven't hit bottom yet.

Wow that's some quick evolution where the genome of the population shifts that drastically in 200 years.

Sure took Christianity a long time to accomplish this transformatin of society - say from 600 to 1800, that's 1200 years. And the things he said that Christianity transformed, women, children, families, those things are still with us. Children are beaten a lot less, (despite what some here would advocate) Women are treated much better than they ever were, and the family has become much more nuclear (ie just parents and kids) vs 1800, which he seems to see as a good thing.

And apparently the decline of Rome is due to greater inequality with the rich becoming richer. Imangine that.

All of Europe blew it in WW I, and Britain winning made it that much worse.

WWI severely wounded Britannia. WWII finished the job, and in just in case there was anyone left in doubt after that, the Suez debacle made it clear to everybody.

To think that little island off the coast of Europe once controlled a quarter of the Earth...

There's nothing special about Britain, all the West is experiencing the same problems. At the same time, Niall Ferguson was on CBC, pointing out scenarios that see the West rising again vs China as things go wrong over there. Nothing is inevitable.

It's also a different world, and controlling it doesn't look like ships and guns. When everybody has similar guns and bombs (including nuclear) you can't just push people around with your military the way you once could.

I think the countries that will dominate are the ones that figure out how to organize themselves more effectively, so everybody is pulling in the same direction, and that have a handle on how to do more with less resources. We're bumping up against limits of growth.

Or we just get swamped by the mass of humanity that's got diddly squat. Look at what's happening in Europe with the migrants.

If history has taught us anything, it's that nothing lasts forever.

There used to be something special about it. Not so much anymore.

Sure you can push people around with your military, the Americans do it all the time (with us and others tagging along for a good 'ol time). The Great Powers may not directly knock heads like they used to, but I wouldn't say military might has become obsolete.

That BioHistory theory just sounds like some kind of spin from r/k selection theory.

The original is better though.

I hve to agree with Saturn on this. WW I devastated the UK and WW II destroyed much of what is left.

The UK can barely hold onto Scotland and with all the Sharia Controlled areas popping up the UK is less and less English.

The Falkland Islands are more British than the UK and she damn near lost them in the 1980s.

I hate to say it but the UK js fading very fast.

Sorry dog but, that guy has got to be the worst speaker I've had the misfortune of listening to in the past 30 years, His speaking style really detracts from what he's trying to say and makes it almost impossible to concentrate on the message.

So, rather than listen to him run on ad nauseum and keep falling asleep I Googled Anonymous Conservative and came up with the written version of what I think he was trying to say and from what I read it all boils down to this:

$1:
The premise of this highly substantiated scientific work is that all of politics is really a battle between the K-strategist wolves within our society, designed to battle in a world of scarce resources and fierce competition, and the r-strategist rabbits, designed to freely graze the bounty of a sudden resource glut and rapidly explode in numbers to exploit such a glut.

sad to say, but: “like the Roman, I seem to see 'the River Tiber foaming with much blood." Seems that Enoch Powell fellow had a point sadly made stronger with time...
