Absolutely sickening. And of course it gets to happen to one of the most gentle and harmless species of animal on the face of the earth. More from the "Ashamed to be part of the human species" department, innocent wildlife victims of BP's evil receiveing the most horrific death imaginable:

A boat captain working to rescue sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico said he saw BP ships burning sea turtles and other wildlife alive, myFOXtampabay.com reported late Tuesday.

Captain Mike Ellis said in an interview posted on You Tube that the boats were conducting controlled burns to get rid of the oil.

"They drag a boom between two shrimp boats, and whatever gets caught between the two boats, they circle it up and catch it on fire. Once the turtles are in there, they can’t get out," Ellis said.

Ellis said he had to cut short his three-week trip rescuing the turtles because BP quit allowing him access to rescue turtles before the burns.

"They're pretty much keeping us from doing what we need to do out there," Ellis said.

Other reports corroborate Captain Ellis' claims. A report in the Los Angeles Times described "burn fields" of 500 square miles in which 16 controlled burns will take place in one day.

"When the weather is calm and the sea is placid, ships trailing fireproof booms corral the black oil, the coated seaweed and whatever may be caught in it, and torch it ... " the report said.

Ellis said most of the turtles he saw were Kemps Ridley turtles, a critically endangered species. Harming or killing one would bring stiff civil and criminal penalties and fines of up to $50,000 against BP.

How about tossing a few BP executives and their bought-off hacks in Congress into the burn fields just to make things a bit more even on the ol' cosmic justice scale?

Pass all the gas stations because all of them, at some point or another, have spilled oil somewhere.

On the topic of the turtles, that really is bloody awful and BP should freaking know better than to do this kind of crap. Especially now.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
'Should know better'?

I really hate how people give others a pass because they wear a white collar.

Fuck BP!

What I mean is that they're already getting enough bad press for the oil spill and NOW they're killing sea turtles. You would think they'd be more cautious about this kind of thing right now and not go out and do something so obviously stupid.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
I would think that this idea wouldn't cross the mind of any sane human being with any dignity.
And I would incorrectly assume that no one would go along with it.
I would assume that as soon as someone said "Hey, maybe they're flammable",
someone else would say "That was a fucking stupid idea, leave the room."

But I am wrong and I continue to be amazed.

People do worse to other human beings every day so to see this kind of cruelty needlessly dispensed upon a helpless animal does not amaze me in the least.

Endangered sea turtles. It would still be shitty if this was an animal that was in abundance. But an endangered species? That's beyond sick.

A fine of 50,000.00 per turtle isn't even going to make BP bat an eye.

The turtles would swim up to check me out when I was surfing in Barbados. They're really cool, mellow critters. And we are close to loosing them.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
Agreed 100%.

We need to have a day called 'No Bullshit Day' where no one on Earth does anything stupid for at least 24 hours. No setting animals covered in oil on fire, no refusing to give blood transfusions to dying newborns, and no cutting people off in traffic.

Obviously can't hold an election that day, no one would vote.

(Violators will be brutally beaten)

And then we should all hug each other. You have to remind the rapists, child molestors, wife beaters, racists, facists and all the others that we have to deal with on a daily basis about this.

Nice ideals Mr C. It's a step in the right direction and you are obviously a very nice guy. It's a start and even made this cynical git crack a smile.
