Damn, these guys are really playing like they mean it lately. Today's win was their seventh straight. They are now only 2 1/2 games back of the Yankees for top spot in the American League East. A truly great game for Justin Smoak who hit his first ever Grand Slam home run in the 6th inning, the first Grand Slam ever for the Blue Jays at Yankee stadium (old or new).

I don't think the smile has come off of Price's face since driving up to Toronto. So I hear Dombroski was fired from the Tigers after he made the deal. And I'm hearing he may end up in Toronto next year. Got to throw the man a bone for that deal.

And they once again shut out the Yankees 2-0 on single home runs in the 1st and 4th innings by Donaldson and Bautista. The first time the Yankees have been shutout 2 games in a row since 1999!

And ahead by a game in the wild card race, going to be an interesting 7 or 8 weeks coming up.

They are going for the division obviously. With all the trades and their vastly improved pitching; both starters and bullpen, they are the class of the AL and the Yankees might be falling back to earth as had been predicted by many, maybe just enough to allow the Jays to take the division.

I am predicting the Jays make it to the WS. There are a few very tough teams in the NL to contend with (especially on the mound) so who knows at that point, but this team is stacked with "gamers". Forget stats and talent, they have guys who demand winning from each other, an entire team pulling the wagon rather than just one or two hot bats or arms.

Let's get some October baseball back in Toronto!
