Of course not. But like he said:

"Seriously, what I've done is expose all my assets to the ethics commissioner. The process we have in our country isn't that I report to journalists on my personal situation. It's that I report to the ethics commissioner, and I make sure she fully understands my situation so we can get to the recommendations."
Yeah but what the ethics commissioner told Morneau is that the law does not REQUIRE a blind trust, but IIRC this very same ethics commissioner in the past has called for that law to be changed and make blind trusts mandatory. I can only assume therefore that when the ethics commissioner met with Morneau she probably recommended it but told him it wasn’t mandatory and advised how to best get comply without it.
Blind Trusts should be mandatory for senior cabinet members and any over-entitled shits who want to complain about how tough life is for those unfortunate enough to be multimillionaires AND among the most senior federal government officials at the same time ought to be thrown out on their ass and pelted with eggs.
Really? Blind Trusts? Do you think because a person puts billions in assets in a blind trust that they will suddenly forget about that asset?
He did what the ethics commissioner recommended, he got a someone who would remove the conflict by not giving him details about a bill that might put him in a conflict to interest. Not knowing about the possible effects on his interests means he can't be in a conflict of interest.
Morneau's problem was complying with the rues and underestimating the pettiness of the opposition. It's laughable that a person making 7 figures would come to the public service to enrich himself!
