So then they came to Red Deer and had very few problems with the RCMP. 2 were asked to leave a bar because they were wearing their colors. The remaining interactions were all traffic related. Maybe having the ALERT team and a helicopter watching them was the difference.

Although I certainly understand why a city would like to make things uncomfortable for criminal gangs, I'm not certain that I'm entirely comfortable with a law that makes it possible for police to "prevent suspected gang members and associates from patronizing licensed establishments."

Seems like a law tht's just ripe for all kinds of abuse.

"preventing management from honouring the Angels’ reservations using legislation allowing police to prevent suspected gang members and associates from patronizing licensed establishments."

What a terrible law. All citizens of the nation should be treated as equal, the uniformity of the law is the base of our legal system. Having a second set of laws that can be applied to a group designed by the police as criminal, without an actual trail or any appeal lets the state infringe on the rights of citizens at the whim of the police.

The RCMP have proved countless times that they can not be trusted with such power, and must be governed by legislative bodies and courts.

"Police ordered customers suspected of being associated with the accused to leave the establishments, according to the sources."

So people not even suspected of being gang members just people that know them are being ordered by the police to leave.

What a disgrace.

Lethbridge City Police, not RCMP.

Alta_redneck Alta_redneck:
Lethbridge City Police, not RCMP.

The RCMP are the ones that designated those people as gang members, not the LRPS.

Just like how the RCMP designed a non restricted rifle as prohibited. Without any democratic oversight, appeal or even evidence. They just says so and then it is.
