I don't quite see the problem with the defence minister putting soldiers on his christmass cards, and all the better if their safe, dry and enjoying a beer.

I actually like Harpers card. I have a problem with the "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" though.
For a country with its morals based on Christianity, you might expect "Merry Christmas" from the Prime Minister, no?

Yeah. I just noticed that.
Inside it says Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, and seasons greetings so I guess that covers all bases. I guess those Quanza folks all vote NDP or something.

I guess we should send out cards at Januari 1st, wishing everybody all the best for the year, including all holidays you might celebrate

You miss the point... The tradition is to send CHRISTMAS CARDS.
Not Hanukkah cards. What is wrong with just keeping it Christmas? If you want to go Jewish, send Easter Cards.

While I agree that it should have merry Christmas on it, I'm not really going to get worked up over it. If we were buddies and went to church, synagog, temple or whatever, I'd appreciate a personal one that reflects our common faith but this was just spam anyways.

It's especially surprising coming from an openly religious PM, who runs a party with deep religious roots. If it was the Liberals or NDP, I would expect it, but from him it seems odd indeed. Still, it's good to know someone is supporting the post office this year. I stopped sending Christmas cards (except to very close friends) several years ago and now only send e-cards.
