Nope, that was against immigration consultant scammers. Keep your scammers straight, will ya. As Kenney says in the article, there's nothing we can do because we can't prove he didn't just change his mind. Kenney has proposed a probation period for arriving spouses, like they do in the US and Oz. Sound like an idea to me. This sort of scam is big in the Punjabi community. I was asked by a Punjabi acquaintance if I wanted to make a quick 10k 20 years ago. Guess the price has gone up now.

Arizona is proposing legislation to deal with fake marriages but, of course, they're racist and Canada would never allow such a thing.

Since he only has a visa I take it he doesn't have citizenship, therefore Immigration should be able to deport his sorry ass, right?

Yea, if they find him.

When they do, he'll be released on his own recog. Then he'll claim refugee status and spend another 5 years with us, collecting welfare, maybe have a kid with some other chick and stay so as not to split his 'family' up.

Then once he gets citizenship he'll ship 50 members of his family over to Canada to join in the fun.

But we need immigrants right? So quit complaining.

Just because nobody ever asked the Canadian public if they agree with this shit doesn't mean our glorious leaders can't ram it down our throats.

Bring 'em over!

You don't have to be a citizen to sponsor family to come over. PR is enough.

And before he goes through everything Eyebrock said he'll say the marriage fell apart due to whatever reason and if she says otherwise she's lying; that she misled him about herself or whatever it takes to tie things up and if that fails move onto what was mentioned in prior posts.

Want more of how things are wrong? Not feeling sick about our system enough? Here's one for you. We had first hand information a guy was scamming his Canadian wife who was pregnant with his kid as well, to get to Canada, cheating on her and were told we could not even present her with the information. Would have been real easy, it was on tape.

$1:
"His family thinks Canadian people are stupid.… They think money can buy you a ticket into Canada."

And his family would be right on both accounts.

Actually besides scamming you can buy your way into the country legally. Its called Economic or Entrepreneur class. I forget how much you need to promise to invest though but basically if you can prove you have X amount of money and will open a business you're in.

Unless you're English and bringing over $1,000,000 into the country, then you still need to have a sponser. :o

Nope.
Entrepeneurs (no matter what country you are from) need to show a net worth of $300k, have business experience and start a business (and set Canadians to work). It means you have to show $300k when you land.

I feel for the woman, and think the man is probably a scumbag.

If she wants to ammend any information that they jointly submitted to immigration, then lets help her out. But the man's imigration status is none of her business.

Depends on what class you use. For entrepeneur class, you don't need a sponsor, for skilled worker class, you don't need a sponsor. For skilled worker, a copy of a passport of a family member gives you 5 points, but thats all.

So, unless he came thru family class, you do NOT need a sponsor. Nope.

Maybe I should get my cousin to call you and sort this out, as you are an expert on immigration and immigration policy.
