I've known 3 people that have died of OD's in just over a year and currently 2 others that are battling their addictions who will hopefully see the light before they too become statistics.

In Alberta, the government decided that the way to deal with overdoses is to close safe injection sites so the overdoses happen out of sight where they won't receive care.
