Funny, I am not surprised.

A. We suck at history.

B. Veterans Affairs is a sick joke.

Shouldn't be a language issue. I would imagine it is like other jobs in Ottawa where being bilingual comes before the ability to do a job.

That Juno Beach centre was built by private funds raised by veterans. Can you imagine the Trudeau government or the Chretien government that dominated our politics for so long chipping in even a pfennig? Trudeau was essentially a draft dodger and I never heard if any of Cretien's many older brother ever served. I could easily believe that they all spent the war hiding in the woods around Shawinigan from the Mounties, though.

When fighting for FREEDOM, should the combatants be forced to participate?

My Grandfather had 19 bullet holes in his body when they took him from the battlefield near Caen July 25, 1944. He was against conscription for the reason that the above line conveys, and no, he was not conscripted.

When you are in battle, you don't want someone beside you or watching your back, who doesn't want to be there. The term 'draft dodger' is associated heavily with the Vietnam war which was a war that should never have had any western participation. I respect any person who took part to do what they felt was their duty or to do what they felt that they couldn't escape but I respect Vietnam war draft dodgers even more.
