I find this interesting. It was a food crop before it could cooked in a pot and was climate dependent. Geography was everything in those times.

location, location, location. Unfortunately too many carbs for me....I have to eat the entire bowl/bag, not just a handful, so I avoid it.

Same here. Corn is pretty vacant on the nutrition side, esp. popcorn which seems to be mostly air. Also movie popcorn is scary expensive for what it costs them to make it.
