Gotta agree with you here, but still doesn't reduce the responsibility of the thief.

$1:
RCMP say baby Addison was found in a car seat on the porch of a rural home south of Grande Prairie.
Cpl. Roy Kennedy says it appears the child is not injured, but she has been taken to hospital as a precaution.
He says officers are still looking for the truck.

I agree. Sometimes I think there should be a test before some would be allowed to reproduce.

The article does not specify the circumstances as to why the child was unattended in a running vehicle but I'm sure the parent will insist that it "was only for a few minutes". And that's all it takes.

Thank God the baby is fine.

Hard to put much blame on the mother, more details here:

$1:
Jodi McWilliams, who lives next door to the house where the truck was stolen, said it was driven by a woman who had stopped at the house to pick something up.
"Her vehicle was parked right at the end of the driveway and, like I said, it wasn't 20 feet to the front door of the house.
"She did not go inside. She met her right at the front door and it's -25 C here today, so instead of taking the baby out and everything else — she was just going to be a second picking something up from my neighbour — and by the time she turned around the truck was going down the road," McWilliams said.

Pretty motivated car thief to be lurking about at -25 in case there was a car around to steal. The seem to make thieves tougher in Alberta than Vancouver.

In Alberta, if you don't have money for a taxi you just hang out at a convenience store and someone will leave a running unlocked vehicle all warmed up for you, right outside!

This one must just have been convenient as someone was walking by.
