I think I will light a sacred fire in my chimera tonight and contemplate the Abos issues.

I'm going to go home a drink a pint of cheap vodka so I can better understand the Alberta natives.

Calling out your racist statement. No need to be Capt. Obvious and call you names when you so openly post the evidence.

So there's no plethora of alcohol treatment programs for the FN in Alberta?

See, you may not like that particular truth and it might offend you that I underlined it but it is a truth all the same.

If you really think it's racist to call out the alcoholism amongst the FN then you should call the NDP and demand that they immediately defund and close all those demeaning and racist alcohol treatment centers and programs.

Don't forget to close the drug treatment programs, too. Just tell them it's 'racist' to mention the FN taste for meth.

1- I live in Saskatchewan .
2- I have several Aboriginal children who have alcohol problems.
3- they have been in treatment.
4- most treatment programs are for anyone who needs them.
5- some, especially those on reserves or run by the Metis Society , are mainly for Aboriginal People.
6- and irrelevant to this specific topic, most Aboriginal People I have met are the survivors of various atrocities perpetrated by Canadian culture .
-residential schools or are the children or grandchildren of residential school survivors.
-treated worst than dogs by white society
It’s no wonder there is a substance abuse problem amongst our native populations.
And Bart, it may not be racist to mention Aboriginal People when talking about treatment, but it is racist to blame them for having the problem .

It's not racist to blame them for the problem. They are to blame.

Of course, there are circumstances where people are driven to drugs due to life circumstances or those circumstances of those in our past but for the vast majority, it's just an excuse...or an excuse to cry racism.

At what point do our First Nations people take some self accountability?

Now say the same thing about the Irish and the Scots. My family is rife with alcoholics and there's not one damned thing wrong with blaming them for having the problem. No one put a gun to their heads and forced them to drink themselves into the gutter.

Am I inclined to be an alcoholic? Probably. That's why I never go over my self-imposed limit of two drinks in a day or one strong drink in a day. I call that 'discipline'.

We all make choices and no one is responsible for those choices but us.

And the stereotype of drunken Natives, Irish, and Scots resonates because it's true.

And I don't give a fuck who I 'offend' by making fun of it, them, or anyone else.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Marcia Nelson Marcia Nelson:
I am pleased to announce that we have introduced Indigenous training for the Alberta Public Service (APS).

Over the past 18 months, government has engaged with Elders, Indigenous communities, organizations and scholars, and with APS staff and public agencies to develop a framework for Indigenous Learning for public servants.

This mandatory training is part of our commitment to renewing and improving the relationship with the Indigenous peoples of this province, in accordance with the United Nations’ Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The one-day introductory training will focus on historical and contemporary experiences of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. It will help you to better understand Indigenous peoples in Alberta and how this applies to your work in the public service.

More than 260 APS members, from 28 locations across the province, have stepped forward to help facilitate this training. Your Deputy Ministers and I appreciate the overwhelming support we have received from the APS to help deliver this important training. I especially want to thank the staff at the Public Service Commission, Indigenous Relations, Education and Children’s Services for co-leading this important initiative.

Information about the Indigenous Learning Initiative and the training is available on MyAPS.
There will be many opportunities to take the training this year and in the years to come. Please talk to your supervisor about putting Indigenous introductory training into your performance agreement and making the time to participate in a session.

Marcia Nelson
Deputy Minister of Executive Council
Head of the Alberta Public Service

White supremacists can't help it. They can't let something like that go by without a reminder of white superiority.
