Finally after a year and a half (has it only been that long) they come up with something most Albertan's can agree on.

How did Alberta get so lucky. I would love to have that here. Though it is sometimes fun to mess with them.

Actually not as much clear cut support as I thought it would be. Who knew there were legit door to door furnace salesmen.

There are scammers going round here to rent a hot water tank. They have a contract that in the fine print will cost you thousands to cancel. It's crazy. Last bunch that showed up here wanted to "inspect" my new furnace to insure it was installed correctly and I that would get my rebate Tried to imply they were with the government and were here to help. Persistent buggers

Never, and I mean never, buy anything door to door except Girl Scout cookies.

What I want to know now is when are they going to ban door to door Jehovah's Witnesses? :evil:

This would have helped the ex who somehow ended up still being billed for two homes. One for the condo she lived in and the second a house she sold.

The problem with that sign is dealing with the mouth breathers who have no idea what soliciting means. PDT_Armataz_01_35

Or just don't care more likely. About ten years ago they used to send teams of really hot girls to sell these contracts. I nearly signed one when they came to my townhouse and almost got hypnotized by the excellent young boobies. Feel sorry for anyone who ran in with them lately if they went with Team Thug to do a sales job/bum rush on helpless seniors instead of tempting them with the bikini team.

We have this law in Québec... anything similar in your neck of the woods?

$1:
A merchant showed up at your door and you accepted his offer. You can cancel this contract without paying any fees or giving any explanations within 10 days of having received your copy of the signed contract.

This rule applies when the door-to-door salesperson did not tell you that he was stopping by. It is also applicable if he arranged to see you before showing up, by phoning you for example.

The contract can be cancelled even if the merchant:
- already provided you with a service. Example: he already started the work;
- already gave you the good that you purchased.

Pretty much. The ones I got at the door were like something out of a Kokanee commercial or a Katy Perry video. [drool]

Does it cover those dickwads who drive around in a car marked "Security" and hose you into a monthly contract where you get a sign for your lawn and a sticker for your window PLUS the call center in Sri Lanka that can dispatch someone from 10 hours away in Vancouver should someone invade your home?

Or the dicks I printed 40,000 flyers for 20 years back who showed you Fire Marshall warnings about your dryer vent connector and conned you into a $500 upgrade to a $4.99 aluminized one?
Or sold and installed Radon detectors around the trailer court where no one has a basement?
