It's not a bribe, PM Sox is flat out buying the reporters.

Small town media in Canada has taken a massive hit from so-called platforms (actually media giants) like Facebook and Google. There’s nobody watching our local government any more to see what they are up to and we are all being sucked into US news (often nonsense about celebs) as if it’s our own. It’s a fair trade versus free trade situation. Our media companies need to be helped transition to this new environment. Anyway, I’d much rather see local papers protected than Bell or Rogers.

Did free speech really die? A little over the top there. It’s Michelle’s job not to like anything Justin does. What’s her media plan?

Maybe not to use taxpayer dollars to pay for the media.

The Amazon method with the Washington Post is the only real way that the old media can be saved. A corporate benefactor buys the papers and operates them as merely another division of the overall company. Obviously the papers simply aren't capable of standing on their own anymore so if some think it's a priority to keep them alive it's either public or corporate welfare that will keep them running.

Say what you like about Media like Rebel, Faith and Lauren, one thing they can say that the rest of the Canadian media can't is Government doesn't own them.

Trudeau offers to prop up small local newspapers, everyone freaks out.
Trump says he should create a new news organization to tout how great the US is around the world (ignoring the existence of news organizations that already exist to do that) . . . and all we hear are crickets chirping.
