If you're visually impaired, a tablet's not likely a wise purchase.

I bought the wife a XOOM the other day: While in the field my KOBO e-reader had leaped under my knee to save me from getting a nasty scratch as a result it was buried with a block of C4. Moving on. I needed to get a new e-reader so I went to Chapters and got the touch (I know its not the greatest but it was the easiest way I could think of to keep all of the books I have on the KOBO cloud). My wife wanted me to get the KOBO Vox mainly because it had an Android OS, I scoffed at that because I would never see the e-reader again if she got her paws on that. So I told her she might as well get a tablet then. We looked around and saw the price of the iPad, and then the price of Windows and Android tablets (I didnt even bother looking at the Blackberry crap). I found the ZOOM to be a half decent tablet, and it was $400 at Costco. She loves it so far, now she can watch Netflix in the bedroom, but I think it is still a far cry from the iPad.

Mine reads ebooks on hers so it's actually an improvement since she use to watch TV in bed. At least I can turn the lights off and theres no sound

I don't find anything wrong with my playbook that I paid 200 for at staples and I have the torch as well. I can bridge info from my phone to the tablet and I was able to find all the apps that I need for business. The tablet being smaller is better to carry around then the laptop and coupled with the phone I have every thing I need including buying Canadian. Kobo books and Slacker radio are one here.I like all the info you can get on the music you listen to on Slacker Radio.
