Just another reason exotic pets should be outlawed. People don't understand the danger they place others in because of their choices.

We don't allow people to keep lions, tigers or rhinoceros as house pets so why should a python be any different?

My condolences to the family for this tragedy.

A guy I know owns one of these snakes, says the story doesn't make much sense.

Not strange at all...it's an African Rock Python.
Anything is possible.

I'll take the rats and mice, people keep them as pets also.
Snakes should all be 'shot'.

I don't want African Rock Pythons, Burmese Pythons, any pythons or venomous snakes alive anywhere near me.

Why?
Because you are afraid of them?

People are more dangerous to people than any animal. Lets start there, k?

Afraid of snakes?
Yes, terrified, they are killers.

They'll eat your babies, domestic pets, livestock, and kill you and your children.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_brown_snake

Eastern brown snakes are increasing in number in urban areas, and are now frequently sighted in city suburbs. The suburbs of Brisbane and Sydney now contain significant populations of brown snakes and they are often seen in suburban backyards searching for rodents.

http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2011/12/29/198471_local-news.html

A PORT Douglas toddler has survived a snake attack in his backyard after neighbours rushed to the rescue and pulled a python off the child.

The boy’s mother told of her terror as she saw the python coiled around the two-year-old and trying to suffocate him.

She contacted The Cairns Post yesterday to share the traumatic event as a caution to others.

The woman was sitting on her porch when her youngest son moved off to chase after a ball about 7.45pm on Monday.

"Then I heard this blood curdling scream," she said.

"The snake was biting his leg and was wrapped around his whole body, to his chest. It started constricting."

The woman could not pull the snake off her son, but her screams alerted neighbours who ran to help.

She said the attack happened so quickly and was "very scary".

You don't want me to dig up how many people were killed just today by car accidents, drug overdoses, shootings, other people's stupidity or lay-around guns, right? Or even domestic accidents, moms with PPD or PPS or just a simple crime-passionnel?
