"Kerfuffle" is Canadian? 8O

My world... my world is so small...

NEVER heard "Skookum" before, sounds like bad meth.

"Skookumchuck narrows" no? Turns out they use the term in Washington too, so it's not Canadian only.

It's Chinook Jargon.

Skookum
Copacetic
Hyak
Saltchuck

Mow itch
Illahwie

Several of those words were still widely in use when I was growing up in the interior.

Don't forget the town of Skookumchuck, south of Fairmont Hot Springs on Hwy 93/95 or

Skookumchuck Hot Springs on the Lillooet River south of Pemberton or

Skookumchuck Rapids Provincial Park on the Shuswap River just below the outlet of Mabel Lake in the Monashees.

I finally found out what a "hoser" is. We have an outdoor neighbourhood rink right near by and my seasonally employed neighbour gets up at 03:00 to water the rink. He's a "Hoser"

Not technically correct. The 'Hosers' are the ones flooding the rink because they lost the game.
