Holy Batfuck.......

EDIT: A gunman opened fire early Friday at a suburban Denver movie theatre on the opening night of the latest Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises, killing 12 people and injuring at least 50 others, authorities said.

Takes two slugs to the back, stumbles outside in panic, stops to update Twitter feed and Facebook profile before getting into ambulance.

Yup, it's 2012 alright. :|

Aurora 'Dark Knight' Suspect James Holmes Said He 'Was the Joker': Cops

Just like the Virginia Tech and Tuscon massacres, it seems the gunman was an extremely-unstable individual without much of a political agenda.

This separates the incident from the Ft. Hood and Oslo massacres, but I'm sure that pundits and politicians will make sure this tragedy doesn't go to waste, especially in an election year.

It pisses me off when the media releases the names of these fuck-stains. Notoriety is all they're after. Don't give it to them. Laws should be enacted preventing the release of the perpetrators' names in cases like this.

Interesting idea, but good luck sneaking that past the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (shooting happened in the USA).

If the media had any semblance of honour or professionalism, they'd withhold the names voluntarily. :|

Don't be so sure. Nothing came of the Tuscon massacre and even if a politician tried to make hay out of this, it wouldn't succeed. The NRA has won the gun control debate (unfortunately IMO) and if any law was passed in response to this tragedy, it would likely be an NRA co-written law requiring all Americans to carry assault rifles at all times.

Dragging them to a movie is cheaper than paying for a babysitter, and it's easier than acting like a parent and deciding not to go to the show because you have a young child.

$1:
In what can only be construed as a bout of horrible timing, a Twitter account associated with the National Rifle Association has had to remove a message it published early Friday.
Because surely, the author of the American Rifleman's tweet would never have posted: "Good morning, shooters. Happy Friday! Weekend plans?" had he or she read news headlines of the mass shooting in a Colorado movie theatre.
Right? Well, one can only hope.
Twelve people were killed and dozens injured after former medical student James Holmes, 24, allegedly opened fire during an early Friday screening of The Dark Knight Rises at a suburban Denver cinema.
The tweet appeared several hours later, at approximately 9:20 a.m. EST.
Mashable notes that the offending message was sent out through social media management platform Hootsuite — a factor that suggests the post might have been pre-programmed.
But it wasn't removed until 12:15 p.m., allowing ample time for the Internet to retaliate.
In response to the poorly timed query, John DiCicco replied: "Yeah, just gonna mourn a bit. And you?"
