So much for the #8 state for restrictive gun laws in America. But hey, apparently the law abiding residents of the city decided not to wait for Mayor Bill de Blasio to defund the Police Department completely before celebrating their accomplishments by shooting the shit out of each other.

More like gun rights and the cultural belief that weapons solve problems rather than addressing underlying causes makes this shit inevitable.

There's more than one or two causes for this kind of violence. Guns are one of them but it needs to be pointed out that these are, once again, illegal guns in the hands of criminals. And demonization of all the police is involved as well. If the cops are now hesitant to show up at all in case they're either attacked by a mob or will get blamed for something they didn't do then the street scum are going to fill that void of police non-presence to do their evil deeds.

Simple enough that a child can see it clearly. Too bad those blinded by their own personal politics can't see it as well.

Who says they're getting blamed for things they haven't done? There's more than enough things cops have done to condemn them for. If they stopped murdering minorities like there's a secret
dead ________ quota they have to meet, then they might get more respect.

No, the cops are to blame for what they do wrong or illegally. And so is everyone else. If homie flips out and starts blazing away with a handgun on a street corner and a nearby toddler gets half it's head shot off then homie and homie alone is responsible for that happening. The cops aren't, not for not being there in time to prevent it (because that's an impossibility) and certainly not because their "racism" caused homie to develop badly as a child and spontaneously turn into a murderer.

The community still has to take it's rightful share of the blame when a spree of violence erupts, especially when the community's been going out of it's was to chase the police out of the area altogether. They can form their own security if they want to, and maybe that's advisable given how much the hate the regular police. Just don't create a vacuum where the presence of authority used to be and then act surprised that the usual slime come out from under their rocks to exploit the situation. No one gets to have their cake and eat it too in this sort of situation.
