Canada-U.S. price differences report coming today

The results of this should be ... hilarious.

We need a report for this???? They can start with booze and gas, then move onto autos.
Beer: $20 cheaper in the US for 24 Coors which includes ALL taxes, duty and exchange.
Gas: $ 0.85 per litre in the US.
Autos: $$$$$?

Booze (liquor, wine and beer) and gasoline are heavily taxed by our governments. That's where the problem lies for things like that.

For most other consumer goods, there is no reason for American and Canadian prices to be substantially different - not any more, with the Canadian dollar stable for a long time now at about par with the US dollar.

Well, we could remove them, and some prices will drop, but we will also lose the tax revenue.


Still doesn't explain books. Most books are American, and shouldn't have a tariff,
except that 10% special mark-up mentioned in the article.
That should be eliminated.

Canadian prices are often higher even before the application of taxes.

Hell things made here can cost more in Canada than the US.

Mostly because you don't apply the VAT to selected exports. Like Justin Bieber.

I'm a bit disappointed they didn't expand this to food products either. But yes, most Canadians are taken for suckers. I, however, shop in Detroit, so I don't get bent over every time I want to buy something.
