Frigate dispatched as Libya refuses Canadian flight

Fife reported that the frigate will only be used for evacuation and humanitarian purposes, not military ones. The vessel will be in the region in case the unrest continues to spread into other countries. It could take about a week to get to the region

We have a Carrier task force sitting off the coast of Libya, I would expect that if Mr Harper were to ask Mr Obama for help that we would helpin evacuating Canadians. I am confident that if the situation were reversed the Canadians would evacuate the Americans.

Actually Canada did with some of our Embassy staff in Iran in 1980. It would be a good way to recipriacate.
