Illegal guns sourced in Canada surge compared to those smuggled from U.S.

Dennis Young received a response from the RCMP to his ATI request in 2017.


This report only covers the guns used in crimes in the Western Region of Canada (BC-AB-SK-MB-YK-NWT).

The data from the report is as follows:

- The RCMP uses serial numbers to trace guns to their sources (domestic/US/other)

- In 2014, the RCMP managed to trace only 29% of the guns used in crime. Others had the serial number filed-off or were untraceable

- Out of the 29% of the guns that were traced, 50% of them were domestically sourced.

- Out of the 29% of the guns that were traced, 48% were deemed to be smuggled from the US. And 82% of those smuggled guns were handguns.

- In reality, only 14.5% of guns used in crime were domestically sourced (29% x 50% =14.5%)

The Liberals and anti-gunners are twisting the statistics and omitting the important facts.

Make sure to contact your MPs and Ralph Goodale and demand to know what report did they use to get their statistics from.

Everyone knows you can't twist stats. It's impossible.

If there was a national registry with registration completed at the point of sale it would be much harder for gun owners to sell under the table and we wouldn’t have to worry about this.

Registries only matter to honest people, the people you generally don't care about. What we need is the ability to restrict the people who buy 50 handguns if they aren't a gun dealer. Those are the ones selling to criminals.

No we need to USE our existing laws.
LOOK for those unregistered guns. I'd suggest they could start by looking at twenty somethings cruising around in Hummers with 20" rims etc...
PROFILE THEM: profiling by race is no good, but profiling by appearance would hold up.
Caught with an unregistered gun at least a really big fine or jail.
And why isn't the registry set up to sound alarms when some legal owner buys 20 guns? If you're a collector, the cops should be able to inspect your collection every so often to make sure you aren't flogging them off.

The Edmonton cops once had a short-lived program a few years back where they tailed chronic repeat drunk drivers and found out that a lot of them were involved in other crimes, like assaults and robberies. The culprits weren't drunk driving just because they were alcoholics, they were also doing it just because they were anti-social assholes who didn't give a damn about ANY of the laws or about any harm they might inflict on anyone they ran over while they were driving shitfaced. They actually ended up solving a lot of thefts and were able to return stolen property to their owners. Then the courts stepped in, said it was profiling and disqualified the police from using it as a strategy. No matter how effective it is in reducing crimes both violent and petty, the courts and the SJW politicians have decided that profiling of any sort is worse than the crimes those profiled have been committing. The rest of us are stuck living with the foolishness of these kinds of decisions.



I doubt you'd find a single legit collector that has anything at all to do with the Toronto violence epidemic. If anything we'll find that the majority of the guns are coming across from the US via the contraband pipeline through the Mohawk reserve that straddles the Ontario/Quebec/US borders. Of course, it would be racists to mention any of the Native gangsters that are involved with illegal firearms sales. That way the government can concentrate on the more important task of harrassing the legal gun owners who have absolutely nothing at all to do with any of the street killings in the cities. It's the Canadian way, eh.

You know, anyone here can call me a fucking racist all they want. All I know as a fact that this is exactly how the courts and the left-wing politicians look at things these days. The cops are always to blame for everything and being a minority (including Natives in Canada) automatically means not just a presumption of innocence but a predetermined finding of innocence immediately upon arrest.
