Brent Hayden

Birthdate:   21/10/1983
Category: Sports

Brent Hayden is well on his way to go into the history books as one of Canada's greatest swimmers.  With a stellar performance at the 2005 World Championships in Montreal, Hayden helped both the 4x100m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relays to silver medal finishes.  He set a new canadian record in the 200m freestyle, narrowly missing the bronze medal, and a new canadian record in the 100m freestyle as well.  He is also the canadian record holder of the 100m freestyle short course.  Unfortunately, Brent Hayden is most famous for being at the wrong place at the wrong time the night before the closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 2004, where he was wrongfully beaten and arrested by Greek Riot Police.  Due to his injuries, Hayden had to pull out of the World Short Course Championships which were coming up.  However, being able to overcome his trauma and attack the international swimming scene with unprecedented force, Hayden is recognized as a force to be recognized.  Other results include: 2002 Commonwealth Games - 2 bronze (relays), 2002 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships - 2 bronze (relays), 2003 World Cup Stockholm - silver (200m free), 2005 World Cup New York - silver (200m free), 2005 World Cup Belo Horizonte, Brazil - silver (100m + 200m free) Share on Facebook
