Utter fucking bullshit. The guy should be removed immediately. He has no concept of what it is to be "disciplined" both morally and militarily. I can't speak for the other two services but to a man {which includes women} everyone I know serving or retired has said that they have never seen the type or scope of harassment that Deschamps claims to be occurring on a daily basis and any issues of harassment, sexual assault or misuse of authority that were brought up were dealt with immediately by Senior personnel.

So, either all lower decker's, NCO's, Jr and Senior Officers in the Navy and I suspect the other two services are liars or this guy is so out of touch with reality that he should just retire and save himself and the military any more embarrassment.

There is a definite lack of real leaderhip and common dog fuck in NDHQ which keeps rearing it's ugly head every time one of these Senior Officer/PC warrior types makes a statement or command decision.

This is what happens when there isn't a teleprompter to read off of. I can kinda see where his brain was at; we have aggressive soldiers, so ergo they will be aggressive in other aspects of their life. He was at the end of his military career before this interview, and for the immediate future, this is how his career will be summed up. I know a few guys still in (also near the end of their career) who feel the way the CDS feels on the subject, luckily the younger generation has a more enlightened view of this serious problem.

As a retired "old guy" infantryman I have never met a single guy who felt that way. If Lawson feels that way maybe he should seek some help. Other than that, he's still a fucking idiot.

No I don't think that's the case at all. You really seem hung up on trying to compare everything to Muslims, no matter how unrelated the events are.

Muslims, like fundamentalist Christians, don't subscribe the concept of "biological wiring" due to its Darwinist implications.

This general is absolutely right insofar as current research goes, and his comment above about hardwired. "Outrage on social media" doesn't mean what he said isn't true.

Time and time again if you get groups of males together, you get a certain type of behaviour. Sports teams, military teams, frats, male-doiminated faculties like engineering.

Despite Caitlyn Jenner and the bleating of the politically correct men adn women do not think the same. They are absolutely wired differently, if you want to use a comparison as gauche as "wiring" for the infintie complexities of the mind.

The muslims may not put it down to wiring, but the reason they put their women in bags is because they don't think males can control themselves around women. So it's the same reasoning, and if you say this is what happens when you put males together, then there certainly shouldn't be any allowed women in the forces and We'd have to build high walls around the bases to keep these ravening males segregated from society. Engineers have way changed since the Lady Godiva rides and the Reg Rag. The biological wiring is the same, but societal pressure has changed their behavior. Time for the same thing to happen in the forces.

Finally, if this is how men act in groups, is that how you act when in a group of men?

What changed wiht the engineers is that they reached a certain percentage of women at which time the behaviour stopped. If it was still 85% plus men, I don't imagine they'd change very much.

Males are stronger, faster and more aggressive than females. And men are far more inclined to physical violence than women. Men have more testosterone. It's not so much wires as chemicals.

I'm not sure I agree with this guy that folks who join the military are any more aggressive than the average male, though. Never seen much research on that particular subject though.

No duh. And yet males in society as a whole have also changed how they treat women, because societal norms have changed. The same thing needs to happen in the forces and the RCMP. No excuses whether you want to call it wiring or chemistry. Testosterone may say do x, but the wiring can say don't do it. It's the same bullshit with parents saying they can't help hitting their kids, because their kids make them angry. When I ask them if they also hit policemen giving them a ticket, which also makes them angry, not so much.

True enough, but remove those societal norm and what do you get? Remove that thin veneer of civility--and it's been demonstrated many times just how thin that veneer is--and it reasserts itself.

I didn't say that behaviour couldn't be conditioned--it can and it should be. I said that the general was completely correct in his statement that men were wired differently. Frankly I find it amusing when the politically correct trying to wiggle off that hook. Kind of like watching the global warming deniers.

Conditioning is necessary, of course. That's the primary function of our education system. And one of the primary functions of basic training. Physcially exhusted humans tested to the limits of their endurance are much more susceptible to psychological conditioning than others, which is necessary to condition people to overcome basic physical impulses like running when they are getting shot at.

Nobody disagrees about how men are wired, chemicalled, or what have you. To offer it up during a discussion about sexual harassment is just making excuses, which is pure bullshit. They weren't having a general discussion about biology, but about how men are behaving in the military.

Again, do you behave that way in a group of men? If not, why don't you but these guys do? Just what they perceive as tolerated.

You seem to be totally missing the point here. It's not about the biological makeup of men, this is about whether that's sufficient excuse for this behavior, which it is not.

I think it was a dumb comment to make. You don't extemporaize during a TV interview., Just ask Trudea, with his commetns on China, or Flanagan, with his comments on child pronography. Both ridiculous comments to make but, when examined, not really as stupiud as they first appeared.



Biology and behaviour are not indepnedent of each other. Is it a "sufficient excuse." I don't think so. If anything the military should be the experts on conditioning people to behave imn a certain manner. I may be missing the point, but my point was that the General was correct in his assertion that males and females are wired differently.
