Since I was a kid I remember seeing the same old ads and stories. Donate 1 dollar a day and you can make a difference in Africa. Those ads have been running for like what, 50 years. Along with UN Africa aid. It's almost like throwing money into a bonfire. Year after year.

TBH I'm not as broken up as I once was about these same old stories. Cruel I know but it just keeps happening and happening. They need to put the money to good use by predicting shit like this is just going to keep happening and ensure Africa is better prepared for it the next time.

Allah will provide, the infidels should not.

Let the Islamic countries step up for a change.

I do have sympathy for the ordinary person there. If the country's "leaders" along with other leaders of African nations hadn't been so busy trying to fuck each other over and actually passed the aid along to the citizens, this wouldn't be as big a problem.
However, there's just no sense in throwing good money after bad.

Africa doesn't need AID at all.

What it needs is reciprocal trade deals. AID = welfare = creates lazy unmotivated governments. Even Africans are saying "we don't want aid, how about you let us trade with you instead". Then France proceeds to close its legs because it doesn't want fair trade.

Out of that aid money, most of it (up to 70% in some cases as per the UN) goes into administration fees, which include fancy hotels for delegates, power point presentations, paperwork, etc.

For every couple of starving African children, there's a UN administrator somewhere in an air conditioned office, wasting money by being paid to do a power point presentation...on starvation.

Oh well, one can only watch as China, India and Brazil continue to work with African nation states by breaking down trade barriers. All this while we (the west, and UN) continue to throw money at admins, delegates, and fancy political clowns trying to make a name for themselves by posing as saviors of the continent.

I've always said Africa is not poor, but poorly managed. I do too agree that just keep on dumping money won't change anything. Its the despots and corruption that needs to be removed from the equasion.

Uganda is a good example in the sense atleast its trying to move forward and make itself better, for the moment atleast.
