How in hell can they even setup polling stations on this short notice? Go to the nearest tank and cast your ballot?
They don't care about polling stations, because they are going to stuff the boxes with fake ballots anyway. It's the same thing they did in Crimea in 2015. They will gather everyone's name, and issue ballots for everyone. The question will be something like A) Do you want to leave Ukraine? and B) Do you want to join Russia? and C) Do you want to be shot in the face?. There will be a few polling stations for the people they know will be loyal to Russia anyhow, just to pretend the vote was fair.
It's easier to get the results they want that way.
