One can assume that all these energy executives expect some form of special treatment due to their donation to the party fund. When this is done for a sitting politician how is this different from bribery?

Of course it's bribery... when I was a commercial loan director, I couldn't even accept gifts from my clients.

SOP for all parties. Our political system would probably grind to a halt without it.

This is the type of shit that has to stop for all parties.

Leftards in Toronto get up in arms over people donating to Rob Ford's football charity yet not a peep when energy industry execs pay 5k to sit with the person who can directly effect their bottom line.

The PC Party did this too and it's equally disgusting but worse for any governing party to do.

She's just raising money for the next (imminent) provincial election.

And what are her chances of winning it?

Ron Ford announced that he would attend Wynne's dinner and handed over a cheque for $10,000.

Nice dodge of the topic to take a stab at the fat guy. [B-o]

Some people just love their non-sequiturs.

I would say 50/50 given the large number of Liberal voters in the GTA.

Tim Hudak's a bit of a wimp so the NDP under Andrea Horwath would take a large percentage of the vote.

This kind of thing smacks of influence-peddling, but how the hell do you get rid of it?

Here's some federal stuff...

http://www.elections.ca/content.aspx?se ... 557&lang=e

Sounds great, but I think it only covers nominations, candidates for nominations, and election campaigns.

I don't think it covers political fundraising outside of candidate selections and elections.

If I understand it correctly, there's really no point to it if candidates and parties can stuff their coffers outside of those time frames. All the lobbying and bribery has already taken place. Such as at this $5000 a plate dinner.

Actually she's more likely paying off her recent leadership campaign debt.
