Looks like public pressure has him backtracking on this. An ethical guy would have offered them their money back when they first asked, not get shamed into it.

Agreed. He's apparently going to refund all the charities he took from. Does this mean that he shouldn't be on the hook for paying back his salary for the time he played hookey ?

Bodah Bodah:
Lemmy Lemmy:
Cops do paid duties on the side, like highschool dances, parades, etc. What Trudeau or anyone else does in their off-hours is their own damn business.

He's doing it on our dime though. He's missed votes in the House.

All of his engagements were done on House time? Of course I don't approve of him skipping parliament to speak. That's not what I said. I said what he does on his off hours is none of our business.

DVC185 DVC185:
But Lemmy doesn't want to see that part.

Are you a fucking retard? Can you read English? Who on CKA has been tougher on Fredo Trudeau than I? Get your head out of your ass for a change.

If the activities of politicians during the off-hours is "none of our business" why all the focus on a certain mayor that was allegedly doing things in his off-hours....none of our business? For something that's none of your business you seem to pay a lot of attention to it.

Looks like you have different standards for different politicians depending on which side of the fence they're on.

So you have no issue if all MP's start charging a speaking fee for events within their community?

Speaking at events is part of the role of a politician.I have never seen a politician of any stripe charge appearance/speaking fees while being employed by the taxpayer. Not once.

Do I really have to answer that for you?

Really?

I have no problem with any public servant supplementing their incomes with a second job, so long as it doesn't interfere with their ability to do what the taxpayer is paying them to do.

Duffy does paid speaking engagements.

I think it would be fair for you to explain your hypocrisy for us.

You're equating smoking crack with moonlighting public speaking but I'm a hypocrite? Yeah, whatever, Nutsy.

No, you are.

You opted to use the generalization to make a point, not I.

I'm glad to know that if Rob Ford was found to be a cross dressing homosexual you wouldn't even consider posting about it cause it would be none of your business.

What are the hours an MP is expected to work? I doubt it is 9-5 or any 8-hour shift, right?

No, you're being a deliberately obtuse shithead. If I say "I don't care what you do in your free time", I think most people would reasonably assume that such a statement would not be an endorsement of raping children or shooting up a McDonald's in one's free time.

I don't have a problem with him doing this in the evenings or weekends when he's not supposed to be sitting, but he definitely SHOULDN'T be doing this (or any fundraising/PR work) during 'working hours'.

AFAIK, work hours for most politicians are when the council/legislature/house is sitting. That's typically 1pm - 4pm Monday through Thursday, except in extraordinary situations (budget time, minority government, etc). For most of them, it's really a PT gig - and most free time is usually spent getting support for a bill or fundraising for the next election.

Ohhhhhhh, name calling. You've taken to name calling far more than my 8 year old has today.
