I find it somewhat interesting that 90% of those with it turned off lean to the right...guess they just can't stand the heat in the kitchen! :)

Because an Internet popularity contests isn't an important thing in all our lives.

I don't get off telling my family at Christmas how popular I am on an Internet forum.

Good for you and your high rating....something to tell the grandkids about. [B-o]

If it's such a big story, why has no one said anything about the 150 or so other MPs earning extra income from corporations, rental properties, drawing pension payouts, etc.?

What a facepalm.

This isn't about having a extra job, it's about charging people, charities and unions, money to do a job you're already paid to do.

I don't care if your Conservative, Liberal or NDP MP, charging charities and the like money to come speak and support an event is bullshit in my eyes. I don't care about your politics. My position on that has always been the same

Sure it is.

JT has an extra job - just like Rob Anders does (landlord). JT was a promotional speaker BEFORE he was elected, just like Anders was probably a landlord before he was elected. If one MP is forced to give up his extra income, then they all should.

Otherwise, this is nothing more than a political attack against the new Liberal Leader. As I said - and you ignored - if this was an issue, why hasn't it been brought up before now? Because the Conservatives thought they could shift the bullseye from Duufy/Wallin to JT.

I would further argue that the only people an MP HAS to speak/appear before are his constituents - and last time I checked, Halifax and Montreal weren't in the same riding. Neither was Saskatoon and Montreal (the charity Brad Wall complained about). So if JT (of Duffy or Wallin or Demers or anyone else) wants to charge for public appearances, it's none of your concern - unless you happen to reside in one of their ridings. If that's the case, you should be taking it up with them.

Enough with the fiction. Do you need me to repeat that all again or is 2-3 times enough?

Funny, I keep saying the same thing and you keep ignoring it. Pretty damn annoying isn't it?

This just in:

CBC News: Grace Foundation 'deeply distressed' over Trudeau dispute

Apparently the charity did not authorize anyone to approach Conservative MP Rob Moore. It was apparently brought to Moore by Grace Foundation board member Judith Baxter (a Conservative appointee, whose husband runs the local Conservative riding).

They [edit: The Grace Foundation] are drafting correspondence to Trudeau.

$1:
We are deeply distressed about many statements made from various persons. However, we are most concerned with the remarks that the Honourable Robert Moore, MP for Fundy-Royal has made concerning our foundation.

Has nothing to do with bragging rights or anything else - the difference is you couldn't handle some anonymous people on the internet telling you that you (and your posts) were full of shit. I don't care if someone doesn't like what I say - and I'm willing to take some heat for it.

Sure it does...that's what "reputation" is all about.

And again, you continue to make things up as you go. I turned off my reputation points ages ago despite having just a few negative's and a positive rating. I had it on for years.

I saw it for what it was....a online pissing and popularity contest. When you have people negative repping one another for having a difference of opinion, it really starts to lose it's purpose.

You see it as an "extra job". I see it as doubling dipping at the trough. Let's agree to disagree.

It's a different trough though. It's not double dipping when the taxpayer's not paying for the second sip, is it? How is that double dipping unless it's the House of Commons paying him to speak?

Because he's charging for things the majority of MP's do for free as part of their job. In my books, it's not right. Agree to disagree.

How about this: I'll admit that you've changed my mind. You've successfully argued that MPs should not charge for speaking on the grounds that doing speeches is part of the job they're being paid for. Okay? You've convinced me.

Will you now concede that Trudeau did absolutely the right thing by: a) providing complete records of his personal finances in the interest of transparency and; b) offering to pay back his speaking fees to anyone who wants a refund, even going back to before he was an MP?

So is this story a net winner or loser for Trudeau and his reputation? I say a big winner.
